Metier Black Stripe Coconut Porter

/ Uncategorized

Did you know there’s a black-owned brewery in Woodinville?  I know I didn’t until recently!  It’s Metier Brewing Co and it makes some stellar beers!  We bought cans of several varieties directly from the brewery and this coconut porter was, by far, our favorite!

Since it’s a porter, it’s very dark however, it’s not too rich like some stouts can be.  I recently had a Guinness for the first time in awhile and it was so heavy I couldn’t even finish the can!  This was nice and smooth without being too much.  It might sound like it would be too sweet, but the coconut was really just as an aftertaste.  It’s not too bitter and has a nice round flavor.  At an ABV of 5.5% it’s also not going to not going to knock you off your feet after one can.  I feel like it’s the perfect beer as we move from summer into fall.  It’s light enough to drink even when it’s hot but has that dark flavor perfect for fall.

Metier actually made this beer in collaboration with another Black-owned business in Seattle,  Jerk Shack.  The brewery also plans to collaborate with other minority-owned businesses on other beers in the future, which I think is pretty neat.

As I said, we ordered our beer directly from the brewery.  You can order crowlers (large cans) or larger directly from the website and then drop by the brewery to pick up.  Luckily they can also be found at local PCC Markets. It’s popular, so I call ahead to ensure the PCC nearest you has it.

When the world opens up and it’s safe for us to go out again, I really look forward to going to the brewery in person.  It has local food trucks come by for some exciting food options and seems to have a great vibe (according to Derek).

Cheers!
