Don’t Judge Me Mondays: Hot Julep
Welcome to Don’t Judge Me Mondays! I hope the new yea is starting off well for all of you. Now that the weather is cool I find myself veering more towards tea, especially in the evenings. Peppermint is probably my favorite flavor. I like it nice and sweet and strongly flavored. Naturally, I started thinking of ways I could make a boozy version of peppermint tea. I was reminded of a Mint Julep. So why not take those flavors but make a hot version!
Let’s get to it!
Start by pouring the boiling water into your favorite mug and steeping the tea bag. I like a strong peppermint flavor, so I steeped mine for 5 minutes.
You can take it out after 3 if you’d like the peppermint flavor not as strong.
Now add the sugar and stir until it’s dissolved. Finally, pour in your bourbon and give it a final stir.
Since I really wanted to taste the peppermint, I didn’t use as much bourbon. If you’d like yours more boozy, use 1 1/2 ounces (or 1 shot) instead.
Curl up on the couch and enjoy!
Hope you’re all staying warm out there!
