1 Year Blogiversary!

/ Uncategorized

Well guys, believe it or not I’ve been at this a year!  While I know I still have a TON to learn about this whole blogging thing, I’m going to say it, I’m going to use the “P word”.  I’m proud of myself!  This past year has been such a learning experience and an amazing opportunity for me to put my skills to the test and challenge myself.  I feel like my photography is slowly getting better and I know I’ve become more creative.  I’m also proud of myself for getting a goal of posting 3 times a week and meeting that each and every week in the past year.  It’s been tough at times but so rewarding.  Any time I get a comment from of you or hear either here at By the Pounds or on social media that you tried one of my recipes, it warms my heart.  I love sharing my passion for food with all of you!

Ok, enough reflection and bragging, what can you expect from me in the upcoming year?  Well I am setting some new goals for myself. I’m going to be bold and put them in print right out in the open here for all of you to see.  Telling you all about them will give me the hustle to make them come to fruition!

  • Partnering with some local companies to collaborate on a sponsored post–  While I’m obviously not in this for the money there are so many companies here in the Puget Sound area I’d love to work with so I am going to make it a goal to try to partner with them.  This could be in the form of peddling one of their products, adding some ad space here for their services, or writing a sponsored post.
  • Collaborating with some fellow bloggers here in the Seattle area- One of the fun things about blogging has been the welcoming network of fellow bloggers I’ve become a part of.  There are several bloggers right here in the Puget Sound region I’d love to work with- whether it’s in the form of a joint post we both share on our blogs or a guest post (if you’re one of these people, feel free to reach out with ideas!).
  • Gaining some advice from one of my blogging heroes There are several bloggers out there that I truly admire for their hustle, amazing content and overall success at life.  I hope to reach out to at least one of them to interview and seek guidance. Let’s call it a blogging mentor relationship. 🙂
  • Featuring a “flavor of the month”- You guys know how I find an ingredient or flavor I latch on to and find all the possible ways I can use it.  Well, I’d like to be more intentional about it. I am going to start choosing one of those each month to focus on. Not all of the posts will be featuring that flavor, but more of the focus will be around it.

You may have noticed some recent changes around here.  I’ve created a new Facebook page, so go check that out! I’ve also converted all of my recipes to a printable format so you can go find your favorite one and print it out!  You may have also noticed a new navigation menu called “The Bar Cart”.  This page will be focusing on all the tasty cocktails and drinks I review.  On this page, you’ll find a listing of all the cocktails I’ve shared so far, any beer or wine reviews I’ve done and other fun booze-related things like my Scotchy Scotch Scotch Cast post.

So here’s to another year of growth on By the Pounds.  As always, you can find me at all of these places on Social Media:

Reach out and give a girl some feedback!  Is there a feature on the blog you’d like to see more often?  Are there things I do that drive you crazy?  Do you just want to say hi? Constructive feedback gives me a way to improve, so let’s hear it!

Finally, i want to say thanks to all of you that regularly read my posts and to all of you that have supported me along the way.  Of course a big thanks to my editor and number one cheerleader, my husband Derek.  There would have never been a blogiversary to celebrate if not for him!
