Flavor of the Month: Sesame

/ Uncategorized

This Flavor of the Month has been a doozy spanning before and after our vacation and, of course, through all this Covid-19 madness!

Here’s the rundown of the sesame recipes I shared this month:

Roasted Sesame Broccoli – This simple recipe takes broccoli to a whole new level.  Orange zest adds some brightness and the sesame oil crisps up the broccoli just slightly in the oven.  It’s the perfect side for so many meals!

Black Sesame Macarons – Crunchy macarons are filled with a smooth black sesame frosting for a wonderful treat.  The black sesame paste also makes these a pretty gray color, which is a fun bonus. 🙂

Sesame Chicken Soup – This soup is hearty and creamy, but is dairy-free and not too heavy, go figure!  Chicken, bok choy, and portobello mushrooms also make for some great textures!

Sesame Salted Caramels – Sesame seeds and sesame oil give these caramels a savory note that makes them totally addictive!  The seeds also add a little crunch for a really special candy.  Just make sure you don’t find yourself alone with a bowl of these nearby (just trust me on this one!).

I’m calling the next Flavor of the Month Hunkering Down. Since so many of us are staying in due to COVID-19, I thought it would be a good time to share some recipes that use less perishable ingredients and more pantry staples.  I’m sure we’re all trying to go to the grocery store less, so hopefully these will be of use to all of us!  As always, you can search #btpflavorofthemonth on Instagram to see all of my Flavor of the Month posts and you can also check out my board on Pinterest.

I hope you’re all staying safe out there!
