Flavor of the Month Summary: Pies

/ Uncategorized

Is anyone else feeling whiplash from a summer that went too fast?  Don’t me wrong, I love fall, but I’m not ready to give up the season just yet!  As I mentioned at the beginning of the month, I love making pies and am a little sad I didn’t get a chance to make more with the summer fruits.  The ones I did make, though, were pretty tasty.

Here’s the rundown:

My Go-to Pie Crust Recipe – I’ve been using this crust recipe for years now and it never lets me down!  It creates a flakey crust that is great for everything from traditional pies, to hand pies, to pinwheels!

Chocolate Blackberry Pie – This pie has a blackberry filling that’s the perfect texture and a chocolate pastry crust that is divine!  The combination of blackberries and chocolate is truly something special and once you’ve tasted this crust you’ll be craving it all the time!

Sausage Breakfast Tartlets – Sausage is combine with eggs and onion and put in a tater tot crust.  What else do I need to say, these tartlets are amazing!

Since I love pies so much, here are a few other favorites I’ve shared in the past:

Since my birthday is in September, the next Flavor of the Month will be one that I love (though I know it’s controversial) licorice!  I’ll be sharing recipes featuring flavors of anise, tarragon, fennel and black licorice.  I know this is a polarizing flavor, but I figured you all might indulge me for my birthday. ;). As always, you can check out all my Flavor of the Month posts on Instagram by searching for #btpflavorofthemonth and you can also find them all on my Flavor of the Month board on Pinterest.

Bring on the licorice!
