Don’t Judge Me Mondays: Harvey Wall Banger

/ Uncategorized

Do you ever wish you could live in another decade?  Some decades I would want to stay away from, but I think there are things about the 70s that would’e been fun- disco, fondue and epic cocktails are things I could get down with!  Today I am sharing a cocktail that became popular in the 70s, not sure I’d call it retro since I think people still drink it today (or at least my mom does, he he) but so it goes.

Let’s get to it!

The Harvey Wall Banger has Galliano in it.  If you’ve never tried it, it’s syrupy and sweet with a licorice-y flavor.  My parents have a bar in their basement with all kinds of fun glasses and various boozes.  It’s a fun place to hang out with a foosball table and dart board.  Another thing they have in the bar is a giant dispenser for Galliano.  It’s about three feet tall and sits on a stand with a spout at the bottom and is definitely a conversation-starter.  Even if you don’t like licorice, I encourage you try this cocktail because it melds with the orange taste and doesn’t really stand out as licorice or anise.

Start by filling your glass with ice.

Pour half to the orange juice in with the vodka and Galliano (a traditional Harvey Wall Banger would have the Galliano floating on top but I like it better mixed in).

Add the remaining orange juice and stir.

Garnish with an orange slice and enjoy!

What’d your favorite retro cocktail?
