Flavor of the Month Summary: Thanksgiving

/ Uncategorized

I know I keep saying this, but seriously, where has this year gone?!?  Thanksgiving is behind us which means Christmas will be here before you know it!  November’s Flavor of the Month was Thanksgiving, so I shared some recipes that used Thanksgiving leftovers, others to serve on the day, and some that just had a flavor of Thanksgiving in it.

Here’s the rundown:

Sue’s Turkey Crepes – This is my mom’s amazing turkey crepe recipe.  They are creamy, easy to make and the perfect way to use some of that leftover turkey.  They were always an after-Thanksgiving tradition in my family and it’s not too late to make them one of yours!

Pumpkin Pie Cocktail – Creamy and pumpkin-y this cocktail really does taste like pumpkin pie in a glass.

Turkey Salad – This is honestly my absolute favorite way to use up what’s left of the turkey.  It’s great spooned on crackers or toasted bread and makes a great snack or lunch.  It’s also not too much fuss, which makes it a great candidate after Thanksgiving. 🙂

Cranberry Macarons – These would be a great treat to share with your neighbors or to serve at Christmas.  The macarons are flavored with cinnamon and filled with a lovely blend of cranberry sauce and cream cheese.

Cranberry Margaritas 2 Ways – Use that leftover cranberry sauce to make one version or margaritas or buy some tasty cranberry liqueur for another.  Whichever you choose, both are packed with cranberry flavor and slightly tart.

Green Onion & Cheddar Potato Cakes – I don’t know about you, but my mashed potatoes never taste as good the next day.  These potato cakes turn those leftovers into something wonderful!  They make a great side, or would be lovely for breakfast topped with a fried egg.

Pumpkin Sesame Bars – These aren’t two flavors you might think pair well, but they really do.  The crust is crunchy and sweet with sesame seeds and graham cracker crumbs and the filling is pumpkin with a sweet tahini swirl.  It’s a real winner!

Cranberry Ginger Hazelnut Granola – A bag of this would make a great gift or is wonderful to have on hand for easy breakfasts.  I enjoy it over some Greek yogurt or in a small bowl with milk. It also lasts a couple of weeks, which is nice.

The Flavor of the Month for December is chestnuts!  You may remember me talking about chestnuts last December and how much I love them.  I’m excited to share more recipes.  Don’t forget, you can also find all of my Flavor of the Month recipes on my Pinterest board.
