Don’t Judge Me Mondays: The Kentucky Ice Pick

/ Uncategorized

Well, it’s time for another bourbon cocktail!  I’d already created this drink when we were watching Chopped one night.  They were discussing how a lot of southerners add Vodka to their sweet tea and call it an Ice Pick.  Since my drink has the twist of using Bourbon, this name just felt right.

Sweet tea is the quintessential drink of the south, it’s sweet (duh) and super refreshing.  It’s got to be thirst quenching in that heat (while I love the food, I would melt if I lived in the south)!  I used a basic black tea for my sweet tea with lots of sugar, of course.  I feel like lots of folks have their own recipe, so use whatever feels right to you.  You can also use Snapple or other pre-made iced teas if you want a drink quickly.

Let’s get to the pick!

You’ll start by filling a pint glass with ice, then fill it about halfway with the tea.

Next squeeze in the juice of a lemon quarter and add your bourbon.  Top it off with more sweet tea and stir.

Garnish with a lemon wedge and enjoy!

Not only is this drink super easy, but it’s light and smooth to drink for summer weather.  It would also be a cinch to made in large quantities for a BBQ or cookout.

What are your favorite summer drinks?  Let me know in the comments!
