Super Bowl Party Foods!

/ Uncategorized

Ok, I will be the first to admit that I am not much of a sports fan. I do though sometimes enjoy watching the Super Bowl. I am that obnoxious person that gets up during the game to get my snacks and stays in front of the TV during the commercials. 🙂  I’m also in it for the food!

For of those of you that are hosting Super Bowl parties, here’s a list of suggestions of what foods to serve!  I feel like beer is just the classic beverage of choice so there won’t be any cocktail recommendations this time around.  I’ve broken down the items into two categories: savory and sweet.

Let’s get to it- hut, hut, hut!

Savory

Kale Salad

Kale Salad – I know it might seem strange to suggest a salad for game day.   I like this one because you can make it the morning of or the day before and it’ll still be tasty, go give it a shot.  Some of your guests may also want a respite from the heavier foods and beer.

Totchos

Totchos – I mean, what more do I need to say.  It’s nachos made with tater tots.  If that’s not the perfect Super Bowl food, I don’t know what is! This would be a good option to have as people arrive or to pop in the oven at halftime.  It’s best served warm, so you’ll want to take that into consideration if you add it to your game day lineup.

BBQ Ribs

TC’s BBQ Ribs – These ribs are incredible and totally worth the effort!  You can make them the day before and gently reheat them in the oven with more sauce right before the game. Your guests will go crazy over these juicy and tender ribs!

Chili

Smoky Turkey Chili and Chorizo Cornbread Muffins – Another classic game day food, this chili is also a great make ahead option.  The flavor is even better the next day, so you could make it Saturday and serve it in a crockpot on the big day.  Serve with typical fix-ins like sour cream, cheese, salsa and these outstanding muffins and you won’t need to have much else on your spread.  You could also have corn chips out for people to make their own Chili Fritos (yes!).

Blue Cheese & Apple Dip

Blue Cheese and Apple Dip – I feel like any Super Bowl party must have at least one dip.  This one is something different and can be served with crackers or bread, apples and veggies.  It can be served warm but is also tasty at room temp, which makes it perfect for game day.  Put it out while it’s hot and let people nosh the rest of the game.

Yakisoba Noodle salad

Yakisoba Noodle Salad – This noodle salad has a fresh element to it and is another item that can sit at room temp for a while.  I feel like your guests will also appreciate something with a lighter flavor profile compared to other foods on this list.

Sweets

Cherry chOCOLATE

Cherry Chocolate Pudding Parfaits– Chocolate and  cherries are the perfect teammates. The richness of the chocolate works so well with the tart cherries.  Even though it’s not cherry season, frozen cherries can be used for this recipe and everything can be made ahead.  You’ll just make the separate components the day before and then on game day, make little parfaits in 8-ounce jars by layering everything, starting with the cookie crumble in the bottom.  It may seem a little “cutesy” for the Super Bowl, but everyone will appreciate having their own dessert.

Andes Treats

Andes Treats – These treats are super tasty and also a great option for a Super Bowl party because they are easy to eat.  You can make them the day of, or the night before and then cut them into square to serve right before your guests arrive.  I guarantee they will love this chocolate and mint spin a childhood treat and you don’t need utensils to eat them!

Scotch Salted Caramel Sauce

Scotch Salted Caramel Sauce – This sauce is the perfect combo of sweet and salty, which makes it a great dip for apples, pretzels, graham cracker or cookies.  It’s also a great make ahead option and will keep in the fridge for days.  Just heat it or leave it out for a few hours to come to room temp.

Chocolate Sandwich

German’s Chocolate Sandwich Cookies – These beauties will be a favorite at your party. They are pair rich chocolate pecan and coconut cookies with a to-die-for coconut filling.  They can sit out for several hours and can be eaten with your hands, which make them a good candidate for the party.

I hope this list helps you make your Super Party a success!  What other items do you like to serve?
