Pickled Grapes

/ Uncategorized

I definitely wanted to pickle a fruit this month and I wanted one that was sweet and wouldn’t get too mushy in pickling liquid.  Grapes seem to fit the bill!

So let’s get to it!

Add your vinegars, sugar, salt, water, and cinnamon sticks to a small sauce pan.  I chose to use two vinegars for this pickling liquid: champagne vinegar and apple cider vinegar.  The apple cider vinegar adds a touch of sweetness and the champagne vinegar goes well with grapes.  Cook over medium heat.

While your pickling liquid is cooking add your grapes to a pint jar.  When I tried these grapes out, I made a batch using whole grapes and a batch using grape halves.  The grapes cut in half just had more flavor and a better texture, so that’s what I settled on for this recipe.

Cook the liquid until the sugar is dissolved.

Pour the pickling liquid over your grapes in the jar.

Let it come to room temp and then put the lid on and store in the fridge.  These grapes will last about a month in the fridge.

The cinnamon adds a lovely flavor and these grapes still have some sweetness and are nice and tangy from the vinegar.  They are great on their own as a snack or in a salad.  I also plan on trying them on a cheesy flatbread so I’ll show how that went here with a recipe or on Instagram,  Stay tuned!
