Don’t Judge Me Mondays: Beer-rita

/ Uncategorized

A few weeks ago I went to Lake Chelan for a girls weekend with some friends from college.  We started this tradition last year when we went to Leavenworth and it’s been really fun!  It’s nice to have the chance to catch up, relax, eat some good food and have some tasty drinks. 🙂

Sunset in Chelan

This year my friend Becca brought the ingredients to make this drink she recently tried.  I’ll admit that I was skeptical at first when I heard the ingredients (Fresca and beer? hmmm), but trust me on this, it’s amazing!  It’s light and refreshing, slightly tart and sweet, and bubbly.  It goes down smooth, so be careful. 😉

I chose to share this drink today instead of a Bourbon cocktail because I think it’s the perfect beverage for your 4th of July event.  It’s a cinch to make, the ingredients are easy to find, and it makes a whole pitcher.  If you make this tomorrow, it’ll be a real crowd-pleaser!

Let’s do this!

In a large pitcher pour the lime concentrate.  Becca had the pitcher in the kitchen sink when she did all this, which turned out to be really smart!  Since several of the ingredients are carbonated, there can be some overflow if it’s all poured in quickly.

Becca the hand model 🙂

Now fill the empty limeade can with tequila and pour that in the pitcher. I wouldn’t waste your money on a top shelf tequila for this drink, an inexpensive silver/blanco tequila would be great.

Next you’ll pour in the Fresca (or other grapefruit flavored soda) and light beer slowly.  Pouring it in slowly will help with the overflow problem I mentioned above.

Give it a gentle stir and serve in tall glasses over ice.  Garnish with a wedge of lime if you like.

Man, I’m already refreshed just thinking about it.  Thanks again Becca for sharing this drink with us!

Enjoy and have a safe Independence Day!
