Don’t Judge Me Mondays: Boozy Roy Rogers
Some of you may remember the Boozy Shirley Temples I shared about a year ago. Since June’s Flavor of the Month is cherry, it seemed fitting to share a boozy Rogers. A Roy Rogers is similar to a Shirley Temple but instead of lemon-lime soda with cherry, cola is used. I think the idea is that the Shirley Temple is for girls so the Roy Rogers is for the boys. I don’t think we need to stick to those rules anymore however. Just like the Shirley Temple post, I thought it would be fun to share 2 versions: one classic and one fancy or “distinguished”.
Let’s meet Roy!
The Boozy Classic
Fill a glass with ice. I’m using my favorite boot glass.
Fill the glass halfway with cola. I used a diet, but whatever cola you like best will work just fine.
Now pour in the grenadine and vodka and top with more cola. Stir and enjoy.
Garnish with a maraschino cherry if you’d like.
The Distinguished
Fill a fancy glass halfway with ice.
Now fill it halfway with the cola.
Pour in the Kirsch and top off with more cola. Kirsch is a cherry liqueur that you should be able to find anywhere you buy spirits or hard liquor. Stir and enjoy.
Garnish with a fresh cherry.
You’ll notice that both of these are relatively easy so try both and figure out which is your favorite! Let know what you think.
Do you have another favorite drink from your childhood you like to see converted into a boozy version. If you let me know, you may see it pop up here. 🙂
